Being Citybroke is about perspective. It’s about seeing glitter in the gutter and a sense of humor when life is giving you everything you don’t exactly want and you’re hanging on for a dream that you sometimes can’t remember.
It’s not sales or survival - it’s an electronic letter from the trenches. It’s what suits who make $60K in at age 24 can’t even imagine. It’s Freedom. It’s Poverty. It’s Broken. It’s Beautiful.

A Virtuous Crutch for the Saving Impaired

Does having Andrew Jackson in your pocket now sound better than finding Ben Franklin in your checking account later? It's okay. Delayed gratification is only fun for masochists and we are not of that kind. My strategy for financial "accountability" in 2008 is to drown myself in books, tools and tricks to be a better saver. If being a penny pincher is wrong than (for once) I don't want to be right.

My first money crutch of the year is an online calculator I found that allows you to see how much you have to save each month to reach a long term savings goal. It's so simple, yet so boring...be strong...
Visit the site and enter how much you think you need to each month have to respect yourself in 5 years. Consider an Orange savings account to increase your interest rate. Unfortunately, I don't know that a high savings interest rate can keep up with a weakening dollar.

Sigh and save anyway.
